Bits and Bobs

I have to apologise for the lack of posts of late, my aim was for a post once every few days, however other projects have come in and disturbed my Deathzap output. One such project is a new army for Age of Sigmar as we gear up for the release of the Second Edition, this time round I chose Flesh-Eater Courts and they are coming along nicely. Another project has seen me delve deeper into the history of one of the planets featured in Deathzap: Jendar. Split between the rival factions of the Jendari Collective and House Baronor, Jendar is the ‘earth like’ planet in my sci-fi universe. I have mapped most of the planet out, with its various countries and then turned my attention to the history of it, how the planet got to where it is when Deathzap takes place. To this end I have been painting up cheap army men and I plan to have some skirmish games between various factions.

Deathzap and this historical project have been greatly inspired by Jono’s World over on Archduke Piccolo:

The premise being that when planets are colonised initially you start out with all the technology and high tech accoutrements you would expect, but as the colony spreads and without the ability to manufacture high tech gizmos the technology falls into disrepair, especially if no more supplies arrive. So people are left to fall back on their survival skills, and technology has to be rediscovered. So after a few hundred years of colonisation on a planet the colony may look more like a Dark Ages settlement than a high tech world. Eventually over time, nations are born and we end up with an new planet not too far off of our current Earth. This is what happened to my fictional planet of Jendar, and I’m currently exploring the year 1105AC (after colonisation), which is similar in many ways to our Earth around the turn of the 20th century.

I’ll get some pictures up soon of this project, just a little more painting to do!
