An inspiring title I know. This is a concept I developed on that previous blog I’ve mentioned before, and I was using it originally to create an entirely procedurally generated universe. You can use it if you’re stuck on a name for an alien race, character or planet.
First roll 2D6 this will give you the length of whatever name you are trying to create.
Then roll a single D6, on an odd number the name will begin with a consonant, on an even number the name will begin with a vowel. You then alternate with consonants and vowels until you have the full name. I find alternating in this way gives the best results.
When generating a vowel (including Y) roll 1D6. 1=A, 2=E, 3=1, 4=0, 5=U, 6=Y.
When generating a consonant roll 1D20. 1=B, 2=C, 3=D, 4=F, 5=G, 6=H, 7=J, 8=K, 9=L, 10=M, 11=N, 12=P, 13=Q, 14=R, 15=S, 16=T, 17=V, 18=W, 19=X, 20=Z.
