I recently acquired some Nurgle Rotbringers from a friend who was having a clear out. I like the models a lot but they were always one of the armies I probably would not have seriously attempted due to how much time would need to be invested in painting them. But since GW’s Contrast paints have hit the shelves I knew there would be a decently quick way!

So after a couple of painting sessions I have 15 Blightkings painted (basing still to do). This was all achieved using a pretty simple technique – prime the figures black, give them a few layers of drybrushing all over from dark brown to light brown to bone, and then apply contrast paints to add all the colour. From there I picked out some details, washed the whole figure with Agrax Earthshade, applied a varnish and then applied blood effects.


They are certainly table top ready! The devil is in the details here:

The above picture does not include any edge highlighting, this is contrast paint applied over a drybrush. The effects you can achieve with this paint are simply incredible!
