Irregular Miniatures 2mm Aliens

I finally got round to painting half of my 2mm sci-fi battle pack from Irregular Miniatures which I have based up for ‘Hell On The Margin’ the ruleset you get in the pack.

Here’s everything. Hell On The Margin tells you to base things on 50mm x 30mm, although they recommend basing in threes a lot of the vehicles come in multiples of two, so I went with that and I think it looks appropriate.

I was debating for a while how to properly hide the edges of the infantry bases and some of the vehicles and I went with the old super glue and bicarbonate of soda trick.

I think it worked well enough, but it can be a bit fiddly, and you have to be careful not to cover up the figures.

It’s all basic dry brushing, washes and block painting.

I’m not entirely sure of the rules I’ve read through them a couple of times but I don’t really understand them, but if I can’t work them out there’s plenty of small scale sci-fi rules to choose from.

  1. Featherstone did write a book of Air Wargames reprinted via History of Wargaming https://www.amazon.co.uk/Featherstones-Wargaming-Warfare-1914-1975-Revised/dp/1471606767
But I can’t recall if it covers air land cooperation Starship Troopers style. I think Bob Cordery has some air Wargames elements in his Portable Wargame / Wargaming Miscellany posts?
Featherstone’s WW2 rules in War Games 1962 might be adaptable. There are free Wargames rules sites around. The other alternative might be to make your question into a blog post?

  2. …..Try TMP … there is an explanation of the Hell on a Margin rules in their old rules section
