On The Desk…

I’ve been relocating of late to our ‘box’ room and by utilising some Ikea furniture brilliantly picked out by my good wife, I’ve managed to set up a permanent hobby station for the first time ever!

Sorting through different storage containers scattered around the house lead me to a number of discoveries all of which I’m hoping to paint and play with at some point. Up first is my Growler force from Vor: The Maelstrom a dead-ish game with the minis and rules still available from Ral Partha I believe. They’re old and characterful but don’t go together too easily, you can see the canyon sized gaps I’m going to have to fill before painting!

I’ve also been churning through some WW2 1/72 figures from Italeri and Caesar. I’ve got a copy of Chain of Command, USE ME WW2, Geheimkrieg and a few different sets in books by good old Donald Featherstone so they’ll get multiple uses in multiple games.

There’s also a bunch of Alin Ru’ and Ralnai from Starguard by Tin Soldier in the states. I’ve got both the original rule book and recently downloaded the latest edition of Star Guard from wargames vault. I’ve only ever played a single game a while back just to try things out, and it was a lot of fun. It has that oldschool feel without burdening you with a long list of modifiers to any action (much like Laserburn and Combat 3000).

Speaking of Combat 3000 here are some Space Marines and Mandiblex from Asgard, now sold by Alternative Armies. They should make for a fun little game, I’m currently eyeing up a Trimote force as well. I’m hoping to get these guys finished for the weekend so I can bumble my way through some Combat 3000.

A quick update on my painted to bought count:

814 bought.

911 painted.

Nearing that 1000 mark… and with all the old projects I’ve found there’s a chance I might hit it without buying anything new!
