According to Archaeologists at the University of Nyandar the Boskovan Mountains were where the first Solar Colonists set foot on the planet Jendar. One thousand years later the mountains would see some of the most significant battles of the ‘War of the Three Dragons’, and in 1237AC battles of the much smaller ‘Pudding War’. Now another thousand years later during the Second Global War battles are fought over the Mountains again, this time as Su Khan attempts to invade Caerdonia. The largest of the Collective forces are pushing north around the Mountains themselves, but many smaller probing forces are attacking through to pull Caerdonian defenders away from the main attack.

The Jendari Collective has always used Dinosaurs in battle, especially as cavalry in earlier ages. They fell out of use with the development of long range automatic weaponry, but have had somewhat of a resurgence since the Return of Gnossos and The Second Age of Fire 1500-1700AC with the development of energy weapons and energy shields. Dinosaurs being much larger and physically stronger than your average human were able to be equipped with more powerful shied generators making them useful shock attack infantry.
The Dinosaurs in this battle are going to be classed as Elite (D12) Beasts with Very Heavy Armour (D12) and Grenades (they can spit acid), and the big one is a Hero (D20) Monster with Super Armour (D20) and Grenades.
The poor Caerdonian defenders are Regular (D8) with light armour (D6). Their Beam Tank is also Regular (D8) with Very Heavy Armour (D12) and is equipped with a repeater and a heavy destroyer which requires an 8+ save if hit.
I’m just going to throw these forces at each other and see what happens, hopefully learning something about Beasts, Monsters and Vehicles along the way.

One of the Dinos was gunned down by the Tank’s repeater on their way in.

The big guy fell shortly after to a lucky destroyer shot from a humble Guard, I was hoping to see how a Monster charge would do against massed infantry, but oh well, the dice decided against it.
The next round was a strange one, multiple Dinos fell due to enemy fire, but they equally scored a lot of casualties with their acid spit, including the Tank!

With only two beasts remaining I considered sounding their retreat, but decided to see how many Guards they could eat before being taken down.

Turns out it’s a lot, their acid spit being extremely effective against massed light infantry (who knew?).
The last round of the game saw the final two Guards being killed by the last remaining Dino. It ate the first and then melted the second.

So a successful charge by the Bite Brigade… if a bit costly, almost bit off more than they could chew…

The Dino distraction in the Mountains caused the defenders enough trouble that the Collective were able to establish a foothold in northern Caerdonia. Now if they can push far enough south, they’ll be at the gates of Cabolt the capital.
Love it 🙂
I like the storyline and map and the diagram if only I could make sense of the blue/red arrow logic – I must have missed a post somewhere?
Ha no problemo, I can’t actually remember if I said that anywhere, other than in my original Oltra Campaign. Red is for House Baronor, Blue is for the Jendari Collective. House Baronor win I follow the Red Arrow, the Collective I follow the Blue. Hope that helps.
That’s logical!
So cool
