My attempts at sticking to a few things this year are once again frustrated. Maybe a better New Year’s resolution is to not restrict yourself to one or a few projects at all, but just let yourself go nuts. While putting some much needed washing in the machine, I saw a A5 rulebook jammed in between some bits on a shelf.

“Oh yeah!” I exclaimed with glee.
Unable to remember where I placed the miniatures that came in the starter set, I went to Warriors Miniatures to nab some more, but unfortunately they’re out of commission. I hope the guys behind Warrior are okay.
Since it’s a steam punk/ weird war, early 20th century game, the figures themselves were mostly World War One types with a little more advanced tech, and since this is arguably the best era to be a wargamer, plastic kits that can fill that void abound. Although should Warrior come back online I will definitely be looking at ordering some of theirs, they are full of character.
So with a forgotten Amazon gift card in hand I started looking at what was available.
Wargames Atlantic figures are fantastic and extremely well priced, and settling on the French and some Sky Pirates as my starting forces I grabbed a box of French (their kit covers WW1 and early WW2) and some Boxers, which I was planning on combining with a few sprues of WW1 Germans I still had spare.

To get things done speedwise, I’ll be going down the Contrast paint route.
Unfortunately with Warrior out of action I won’t be able to expand the game for now, the rulebook I have only covers the basics, an expanded set is available in their ‘Shadows Over The Nile’ starter, with cavalry and vehicle rules. If anyone has a copy or knows where else I might be able to get one, let me know.
Hi mr deathzap, I corresponded with I think it is John who runs warrior miniatures during COVID time, he sent me some Mexican war figures amongst others. Warrior were my first metals I really liked: I had Mini figs which were – well minifigs. Warrior were ragged and had animation they were different – they offered more to the imagination.
I think a personal family issue has kept John the owner rightly preoccupied with important life matters. Like you I hope they return to the hobby some day.
Great that you found inspiration on a shelf! Look forward to more episodes on this digression….
I like his figures, I have a feeling he might be retiring? But he used to have a phone number on his products, so don’t be afraid to phone him to find out what’s going on. I ordered by phone a number of times
I have a heap of his pirates 🙂
