Terrain is a struggle for any wargamer, and especially for wargamers as eclectic as me. It’s not really possible to collect terrain for every era and fantasy world in every scale from 2mm to 54mm.

My biggest issue is the space required, so I came up with a potentially useful solution.

Children’s stacking boxes can be bought for £5-£10 and they’re sturdy and all fit inside each other to pack away.

I went for simple paint jobs, a lot of sponging and stippling.

It more effective than I was expecting.

Best thing is as I’ve already stated, the whole lot pack away easily:

As an evolution of this idea, I’m thinking ruined buildings could be easily done using the cubes upside down.
This is excellent-a great way to maximise space for storage and as you say the buildings really work in the game
That’s inspired. Great work.
Brilliant solution! I too have a love/hate affair with all the scales and eras that have caught my eye. Constantly flitting, I find the less detail on the terrain piece means that it’s easy to use multiple ways.Sent from my Galaxy
Great idea! I am very tempted to give it a go.
They do look good
This is such a good idea! As a bonus to using them upside down like you mentioned the terrain footprint would be super obvious. Very nice!
