Ain’t no Party like a Partisan Party!

It’s been a slowish week but I have set about building my Partisan force.

Here’s everything I was able to get out of the Wargames Atlantic box, all 32 figures. I’ve grouped them into two 10 man Rifle squads and two 5 man Assault squads. You can probably guess what the Rifle squads have (9 rifles and an LMG). The Assault squads have 3 SMGs, a Rifle and an LMG, with the rifle guy being an extra shot when the SMGs aren’t in range, and then he’s the loader when they are. Plus I’ve heard about Assault squads sometimes getting stranded out of range on objectives, so having the rifle in there means they have a better shot at getting pins if stranded.

I had some leftover parts from Wargames Atlantic’s WW1 Germans and WW2 Italians so that helped with the shortcomings of the Partisan box. The shortcoming being the lack of rifles, 2 per sprue meaning you can only equip half of the men with rifles.

I imagine the Partisans will have grabbed some paint to make their stolen helmets different enough from German and Italian ones, so that an Allied sniper doesn’t shoot them by accident.

My Lieutenant is dual wielding pistols, the only option that makes sense in WW2 (he does have a rifle attached to his back). I gave each of my leaders a scarf. I was thinking rifle squad leaders get blue ones, assault leaders red ones and my Lieutenant will get a red and blue striped one.

I grabbed my supports from Irregular Miniatures, mostly because it was an awful lot cheaper than Warlord’s offerings. They come from their VBCW range and look the part.

I’m looking forward to getting everything painted. In terms of what I want to add, I reckon a stolen German tank has to be on the cards, a couple of transports (Parti-Buses) for my assault squads, and then I’ll probably see how many points I’ve got to play with. One option that will be fun to mess with is the 20 man squad all armed with pistols. It’ll be a challenge to build, but if I find an easy way, I’ll have to get one to the table.
