Christmas Wargaming?

Inspired by the Man of Tin’s snowball fights, and various imagi-nations games, for the longest time I’ve been looking out for suitable snowmen. Snowmen to play out the Arctic Civil War.

Here’s a snowball post from the Man of Tin:

I finally found some snowy conscripts on Amazon which seemed suitable.

They really are the perfect size for wargaming, between 25-30mm tall each. Painting wise I primed them with a goop mix containing wall filler, not more nails, pva glue, sand texture paste and black paint.

Even that little work somehow made them look more suitable, but I knew I needed to go further, after all I wanted the various sides in my war to be identified by their scarf, hat and glove colours.

While painting I jumped on discord and started talking to my mate in Australia and since we’re both 40k fans, my little snowball game quickly spiralled into madness.

What if Santa and his elves were off researching how to deliver presents more efficiently? So for one Christmas he left one of his sons in charge, Horace Claus, even declaring him Christmaster Horace.

However the ruinous powers Krampus, Jack Frost, the Easter Bunny… corrupted Horace and turned him against his Father, even putting a rift between Santa’s other sons and sending their Snowman Legions and the North Pole into a full blown civil war.

Painting wise I’ve gotten this far, I’m not 100% sure what to do with the bases, snow would be the obvious choice, but would also not contrast well against my snowmen.

Lore wise… we got this far:

If you know the Space Marine Legions you can have some bonus points for guessing who is who in the comments!

I wonder when a joke has gone too far?

Probably at the point where Santa is mortally wounded by Horace and put into his Christmas Throne so he can still psychically judge which children are good and bad…

Or maybe the point I’m making tanks out of Gingerbread?
