I’ve been getting the ball rolling on my Havok project already. My first port of call was a box of Eisenkern Stormtroopers from Wargames Atlantic. The figures are really good, and I’ve already built and painted a box before, so I know what I’m up to. The challenge here however, was finding rough equivalents to Havok models.
Up first were the Karn Troopers:

To recreate them I used the Stormtroopers but did not put on their shoulder pads or backpacks and gave them the smallest guns, this was all because the Karn Troopers are the basic troops of the Karn Empire and I needed room to beef the figures up for the more elite units.

Next up were the Darkest Suns:

They’re basically Karn Troopers but with two guns. Unfortunately I couldn’t accomplish that with the contents of my Eisenkern box, so instead I added the shoulder pads this time around and used a slightly bigger gun:

Next up I wanted some Heavy Weapons:

This time round I lost the shoulder pads, but added on the backpacks and used the biggest guns:

I’d also saved up the heads with the special vision enhancing thingys attached.
Then it was time for the Form Warriors:

This was probably the one I struggled with the most, as there weren’t exactly suitable bits in the Eisenkern kit, no neon yellow quiffs or sci-fi pistols, however I was able to produce an officer figure and that will make a decent enough proxy for now:

On my portable painting desk currently is a Forge Father Iron Ancestor from Mantic Games that’ll be working as my Karn Battleform:

Painting was extremely quick for everything. Basecoat, wash, drybrush highlight and some sponging and stippling for battle damage.
Strangely despite Wargames Atlantic stating you have enough parts for 20 figures, I somehow built 25?

Not sure if I got lucky, or if that’s how every box of Stormtroopers is… an odd mistake if that is the case!
Anyhow, 8 Karn Troopers, 9 Darkest Suns, 6 Heavy Weapons, 2 Form Warriors and a Battleform gets me 498 points of Karn Empire.
Next I’ll be working through a box of Wargames Atlantic’s Cannon Fodder for my Nexus force!
Coming together nicely and looking good 🙂
Apologies, I accidentally deleted your comment on my other post. An essential tremor and touch screens don’t mix lol. The temptation to start a fourth is strong, I love the idea of cramming fantasy undead into sci-fi settings, so maybe something along those lines.
