The Nexus Rebellion

In opposition to the Karn Empire we have the Nexus Rebellion. This time I picked up a box of Wargames Atlantic’s Cannon Fodder, a kit that I’ve also had before and was already well aware of how much mileage you could get out it.

First up are the Nexus Troopers:

They’re the backbone of the rebellion and if their stat line is anything to go by I reckon must die by the bucketload (truly cannon fodder). Folks in the past have used EM4s plastic troopers to represent the Nexus Troopers and I also think any of the metal sci-fi humans Grenadier put out and you now see all over the place would be good matches too. Out of my Cannon Fodder box however, I put together the following:

I chopped the ends of the guns off to make them look less fancy.

Then I moved onto the Kinsmen:

It’s a fun little puzzle sometimes to put together figures to be other figures. I think the Kinsmen is where I’ve had to stretch things most. From the picture above, I took three things, bald(ish) head, fancier guns and green:

Now onto the unit I was probably most excited about building, the 47th Line.

I had some of these guys from the Skirmish set and to me they always looked like Rebel troops from Star Wars. So that’s kind of what I did with the parts available:

From there I moved on to the Doomguard:

These were one of the reasons I set out to accomplish all of this with Wargames Atlantic’s Cannon Fodder, because of the extra head options:

I think in retrospect I probably should have cut their guns down like I had with the Troopers as they really do have terrible shooting, but they’re absolutely deadly in melee. There must be some kind of odd ammo in those drum mags.

Then I moved onto the Assault Troops:

These were an odd one, as although the artwork on the stat cards has them in all blue, I knew the figures themselves had red detail, so I picked out the helmets as below:

Finally was my Hundred Battleform and Hundred Warrior:

A Hundred Battleform attacking some Darkest Suns in an example in the Rulebook.

This is where my second Iron Ancestor from Mantic came in handy. The original Hundred Warrior has two pistols but due to limitation of my chosen kit I’ve settled on a pistol and shouldered rifle combo.

Not a bad force to get together for just over £30, which is really why with both my Karn and Nexus I looked out for kits that covered all the bases and gave me the rough ap-proxy-mations I required.

The third faction for Havok, the Pteravore are in the works:

But, since I do have the equation for calculating points values, once all my building, painting, playing and then fixing of the rules is done… why don’t we add our own fourth faction to the mix?
