I mentioned these guys on my previous post. The Boglanders are a miniatures range by Ramshackle Games and I love them. They’re ‘goblins’ in a pretty loose sense of the term, and the goal of the range is to have them fit into almost any setting, although if you do consult the Boglanders Source Book they do have a pretty fun and quirky setting all of their own.

I wanted to get through these guys pretty quickly, so I opted for slap chop to get the ball rolling, with a little highlighting.

In order to get a little more variation I tried drybrushing multiple light colours in patches over the black prime, however I don’t think after the contrast paint was applied it made much difference.

I have to paint the metallics ‘normally’ as I especially don’t like the look of contrast metals. However to get a good rusty effect on metal you can put a light brown or flesh tone over the metals.

I highlighted my red and green gang’s skin with a few layers of thinned down Moot Green from Citadel.
For my other gang I wanted a different basic scheme, and so opted for light green/ yellowish robes and a lot of bronze metal.

I also included more green by watering down a mix of Moot Green and bone, to add a patina to the bronze.

So here are my two gangs completed:

Did I say I’m a really big fan of this range?

But what rules should I use for them? I’m very tempted by a few. Laserburn, Mini Gangs, Vor the Maelstrom, Irregular’s Skirmish Rules, Donald Featherstone’s Skirmish Rules, Close Little Wars, GorkaMorka, Mordheim… the world really is my oyster!
Interesting figures, they look great painted 🙂
Thanks very much!
That is very effective.
And interesting range and the painting style suits them 🙂
always love to see Featherstones rules on the table.
cheers,
John
