Cambari Gunslingers

I recently procured a large bag of cowboys from Amazon. The figures looked decent enough, certainly a far better quality than a lot of what I’ve been painting lately. The only real downside to the figures was the lack of poses.

There was only four in all. Poses I think originated with Airfix. So I employed an old trick of mixing up my painting scheme across the poses, sticking to the same group of colours, however I varied where those colours were put. It creates the illusion of greater variation in the figures.

These guys are Cambari Gunslingers, not historical cowboys although I’m sure they’d be fine for that too. Cambar is a region in the South East of the Rin Empire between Babbacumbe and Dabra. It’s a region responsible for much of the Rin Empire’s food supply, making it a vulnerable area during the Rin Rebellion. Fortunately for the Rin Empire, the Cambari have been hardened by decades of land disputes and rustling, which means they aren’t people that will give in easily to the JDA’s invaders.

Cambari militias are decently equipped and know their territory extremely well, often giving them the upper hand. They employ ambush and hit and run tactics, often from horseback. Prior to the Rin Rebellion, the Cambar region was primarily known for providing the Cambari Stalkers, unique special forces equipped with extremely dangerous energy rifles, initially designed for taking down large game. Herds of cattle are frequently attacked by dinosaurs after all. But, those same rifles can be utilised against well equipped enemy infantry and vehicles.

Cambari Stalkers

Gunslingers when not carrying an energy rifle, are frequently seen wielding two energy pistols, which they train with relentlessly. Competitive shooting, is a prominent feature of Cambari culture, where Gunslingers attempt to hone accuracy, speed and even shooting from horseback.

Speaking of horseback, it seems Amazon also provides a set of mounted cowboys, maybe I should pick some of them up too, as you can’t go far wrong with a good cavalry charge!

I look forward to developing my forces for the Rin Rebellion further. Finding personality where I can, and developing my Deathzap setting!

  1. Very nice paintjobs and backstory. Yes, all are Airfix knockoffs. I have the originals and many copies. The sculpts of your copies are passable but a few generations down the line of copies of copies of copies. The earliest copies were much closer to the originals. I have heaps of them.
The mounted ones would be fun to put on various creatures.

  2. Nicely done, both figures and backstory 🙂
Hope to see the mounted ones soon, and given the numbers of ‘small’ dino models, dino cavalry must be on the horizon 🙂

  3. It’s actually a scheme I’m running with a guy that makes cowboys, I’ll put Dino cavalry in this edition of Deathzap, then when everyone’s mounted their cowboys on dinos I’ll remove that as an option in the next edition… sell more cowboys that way!
(That was a Horus Heresy 3rd Edition joke if you don’t pay attention to the goings on in Warhammer)
