Rivals to the Royalist Star Forces of King Philip-Zed the 4th are the Apocalytes.

The Apocalytes worship the ‘Great Bore’, is it a worm? Is it a maggot? No… it is the Great Bore! The hole in everything!

The backbone of the force are the cultists, plentiful, poorly armed and under-armoured but they make up for all of that with their Apocalyptic zeal!

They have giant mutants in tow, ready to dish out murder and mayhem up close.

To command the charge we have the Wormoid Queen and her bodyguard.
I also have been working on a battlefield using an old picture frame:

I glued down a bunch of random bits to represent some sort of installation. Which I then covered in texture paint:

And followed that up with a lot of layers of cheap acrylic paints. The paint was very watered down because that gives a more realistic effect:

I finished the board up, by adding doors and windows using black paint.

Now time to think about some rules! Here are some tiny beauty shots too, odd to think all this began as a bag of random crap and some screws:

that’s a lovely project.

You do very well at turning “stuff” into wargames materials. 👍
Love it
So how did you create the wormoid Queen and her bodyguard?
I probably should have said in my post. They’re the same as my previous guys, screws with cocktail stick end guns, this time though they got a coat of texture paint/paste all over. I’ve got some Vallejo stuff, but citadel or your own homemade mix would do fine. That’s all there is to it.
Spot on – looks a great little Wargame now. How is VJ earth texture better than say fine sand/ grit mixes and overpainting?
It’s effectively the same, just faster.
