Mantaurs vs Pirates

In the mad world of finding things to replace the heads of army men with, at some point I landed on the idea of just smaller army men. I previously showed off my initial Mantaur:

The problem I found in the lab, was what with each further iteration of the Mantaur, their cognitive abilities decreased exponentially:

So I finally settled on a full head replacement, using the Mantaur’s initial head:

Verging on Human Centipede territory…

I do wonder how far I could take this though… some time later, I’d gotten them painted. It felt right to settle on a more ‘normal’ paint scheme, something resembling a realistic military to sell the rather strange Mantaur idea and I think it works:

Looking back it is a bit mad how much difference a simple head swap makes.

As much as I am enjoying making gangs, I think I probably need to slow down a little, get some rules together and play some games… although a bunch of fish headed guys could be fun… there’s cheap cat figures around… and of course there’s bugs, cowboys… cowbugs…
