Hobby Update-ish

It’s been a little bit of a bonkers weekend. I turned a little older, and then experienced Remembrance Sunday. It’s an odd quirk of being born early November, your Birthday weekend often lines up with a rather somber and thoughtful occasion.

Tamiya 1/35 Russian Assault Infantry

Anywho… another quirk of having a Birthday is being inundated with gift cards, which is awesome, but for the ever moving hobby butterfly it can also be a challenge… a box of Wargames Atlantic Bulldogs to replicate the Praetorian XXIV maybe?

Despite the fact I know I’d never manage to get them all painted in that lovely 90s style… but the army isn’t that big… so maybe…

I got a lot of Tamiya 1/35 figures. I’m not sure why, just something called to me…

Enough to build a squad of Americans, Germans and Russians. They slapchop amazingly well!

I’ve got thoughts of writing a specific adaptation of my Simple Toy Soldier Game for WW2. I’ve also got thoughts of fighting my way through a single game of Final Combat. I’m also well aware that Laserburn began as a WW2 ruleset, so I wonder how useable that is with a little tinkering?

I’ve nearly got to the point on the sprue board that I can cover it in another coat of texture goop, but I think I greebled myself out a little, I spent the majority of last week hand gluing several hundred coffee stirrers down with superglue.

I also got Mantic’s Epic Warpath starter set. I’d really had no clue it was out until very recently. Wayland Games made it appear on time for my birthday. I briefly had a moment of my usual madness… what if I based the whole thing individually, for tiny skirmishes?

The figures are really good by the way. Really good. I did eventually see sense, realising I could easily play Firefight with multi based miniatures and still play Epic Warpath, so I’m basing them as standard. There’s a huge amount in that box, but hopefully it’ll all be built soon!

There was also a box of Great Escape Games female cowboys, and Frostgrave female wizards… old west gunslinging witches?

Too many projects…
