I did tell myself that once I’d run out of bases (I had 50), I’d get on to painting… but I had a few more kitbashes to go, so I ordered 50 more, and I’ve almost run out again…
Didn’t ever tell you that kitbashing is probably one of my favourite aspects of the hobby?
For some reason, unbeknownst to myself (bar the rule of cool), I started building sci-fi Dwarves. Both Wargames Atlantic’s Grognard arms and Stargrave’s Scavenger arms fit well on these Oathmark heavy dwarf infantry bodies:

If you could explain to me how Dwarves fit into my cyberpunk-gothic horror setting I’d love to know!
Up next I felt Imhotep needed some followers (despite being doubly dead in my head canon), so I combined Stargrave Scavenger bodies with Wargames Atlantic Raumjager arms, and Fireforge Berber heads:

Another variant on that same idea, was mostly Scavenger parts, but with Wargames Atlantic’s Afghan heads and accessories:

I can see why Games Workshop went Lawrence of Arabia/ Long Range Desert group with the Tallarn Desert Raiders and not Mujahideen (especially in the early 2000s!), but I do really like the aesthetic here…
I’d started thinking more about what factions were involved in these new Deadwars, and since Dracula was successful in winning the first round of the Deadwars, I thought it would be cool to have the focus be his three sons and their rivalries. Representing Dracula’s power, and imperialistic might is his son Malleus Rex, and so I wanted some guys appropriate for that.

Of course combining Wargames Atlantic’s own parts works well, here’s the Raumjager with the Grognards.

I was also developing an exclusively Satyr warband (or Demion (that’s a Demi-Demon)), after discovering that Wargames Atlantic’s Space Nam arms fit well on their Satyrs after a good amount of careful cutting.

I managed nine Demions in total, and they give me a Saturday Morning cartoon vibe (think Biker Mice or Street Sharks), so maybe each one will get a bold and unique colour scheme and an over-the-top name.
I really need to get painting!
