Weirwood Crones

Here’s my latest unit all ready to go! The Weirwood Crones (Sisters of The Thorn) add some speed and magic to my growing force. I’m also continually aware that this blog is supposed to be about cheap gaming, but the majority of units in the force have been salvaged from the bits box and the […]

Children of The Weirwood

I’ve added another unit to my Blanchitsu Cities of Sigmar army ‘The Children of the Weirwood’, these guys will count as ‘Eternal Guard’ and I’m really happy with them, thinking I might use this conversion as the basis for lots of other units in the force. So if you can’t tell that’s a Bloodletter body […]

The Blanchitsu Is Strong With This One

For those of you that the word ‘Blanchitsu’ is new here’s a little explanation… ‘Blanchitsu’ is a miniature modelling and painting style inspired by the artwork of John Blanche a long time concept artist for Games Workshop. You could describe his style as Marmite you either love it or hate it, and I love it […]

15mm Sci Fi Rules Ideas

Here’s a little bit of fun I think has legs! While I don’t have much if any suitable terrain for 15mm figures a stripped down Darkfell board will suffice for some play testing. Here’s a little look at my current thinking on how a sci-fi, or other game could be played. Each unit has a […]

Alternative Armies 15mm Ort Company

Here’s some miniatures I had my eye on for a very, very long time! From Alternative Armies Asgard range we have the Orts! As I mentioned I’ve wanted some of these for nearly a decade and only picked them up a month or so ago. They’re great little aliens, big robotic heads and small cloaked […]

Irregular Miniatures 15mm Space Scum (WIP)

I’ve recently been working on a Christmas present I received from my lovely wife a 15mm 100 figure Space Scum army from Irregular. They’re a work in progress so far, and I’m only working on an initial force of 25 figures, but here’s where I’m at. 5SF44 ‘Armoured Dwarf with Bolter’. These come in two […]

Darkfell

Merry Boxing Day! He’s is the report for a small game I played out this morning for some homebrew rules I’m calling ‘Darkfell’, I wanted something quick and simple that gave me that Mordheim feel. I used the ‘Markup’ function on my phone to put the text on to the pictures as I played, so […]

A lesson in never throwing anything away…

I feel like I’ve posted in this topic before, maybe… maybe I’ve just got a serious case of deja vu or it was one of those unposted drafts we all keep hidden away. Marie Kondo has been rather influential of late with her philosophy of if something doesn’t bring you joy you should get rid […]

Irregular Miniatures 2mm Aliens

I finally got round to painting half of my 2mm sci-fi battle pack from Irregular Miniatures which I have based up for ‘Hell On The Margin’ the ruleset you get in the pack. Here’s everything. Hell On The Margin tells you to base things on 50mm x 30mm, although they recommend basing in threes a […]

Army In Progress: Chaos Orruks (Orcs)

I believe I’ve previously mentioned this project, and although you may argue that it’s Games Workshop and not exactly in keeping with this blog’s tagline of ‘anyone can afford wargaming’ I have made some significant savings on this one. It all started here with some Savage Orruks. I was playing a game of Age of […]
