The Simple Toy Soldier Game

Here’s a belated Christmas present from me to you, my attempt at a tactical, yet simple rule set with the goal of quickly and excitingly playing out firefights between small squads of troops with modern weapons. I’ve had a lot of fun with this rule set over the last couple of years since it popped […]

Dino-Team Photo

So after a long period of play testing I think it’s time I had a dino break. As you can see my collection of dinosaurs has boomed somewhat in recent weeks. My goal now however is to refocus back on Deathzap, and a little project I think could be a real game changer.

Dino Thoughts From a Lizard Brain

I played a game today trailing some new dinosaurs and a new objective – the gargantuan. The idea being that there’s something big and nasty and the first side to bring it down gets an objective point. I played the game mostly for fun (oh the horror!) so I didn’t take too many pictures, all […]

Roasted Rex – Battle Report

So a little more play-testing this evening, changes from the previous edition of the rules (last nights rules to be exact) include two slight tweaks to make combat more bloody (yum yum!) and also there have been some tweaks to objectives. Below you can see deployment, T-Rex, Giganotosaurus, Utahraptor and Allosaurus, take on Stegosaurus, […]

More Dinosaur Play-testing

I did some more play-testing this evening with my new dinosaur rules, and a couple of new dinosaurs, in the top picture you’ll see my new Dilophosaurus and Utahraptor. Unfortunately my phone died so I only managed to snap the two pictures above so that’s all you’re getting in terms of a report on the […]

Dino-Wars (Is that title taken already?)

I finally settled on a rule set, one of my own concoction and I’m so happy it actually works! So here is my inaugural play test. Here’s deployment. On the left we have a Stegosaurus, an Allosaurus, a Styracosaurus and a Triceratops, against them on the right is a Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, T-Rex and another Allosaurus. […]

The Jendari Rangers – Ready for the table…

So the Jendari rangers are ready for the table. Ironically I went for a more realistic scheme than a higher or retro sci-fi one, I wanted them to look stealthy. Rules wise I think I’ll have units designated as elite resolve all their shooting before other non-elite units, since in Deathzap all shooting is simultaneous. […]

Dinosaurs, dinosaurs everywhere…

From left to right Therezinosaurus, Allosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Styrachosaurus, another Allosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, T-Rex, Carnotaurus and Spinosaurus. I’ve got rules in the making to use with these fellas, hopefully to be posted here soon. Also I should mention in the menu tab at the top of the page you can find the rules for Deathzap. Thanks […]

Flick Ninjas

So after a little browsing of plastic tat shops (it helps when you live in a seaside town in the U.K.) I found a bag of ninjas for a pound. All told there must be around 40 ninjas in the bag, each is surprisingly well sculpted and they come in red and black plastic, but […]

An afternoon’s work…

I purchased some Italeri Crusaders and Saracens today in the hope of doing some medieval era skirmishing with my imagi-nations. The paint scheme I went for may be nostalgic for some. They certainly bring back warm fuzzy feelings for me since I had a rather good Britains Deetail collection as a kid. https://goo.gl/images/tA3Lsu https://goo.gl/images/n7S16T They’re […]

Gladiatorial Combat

It struck me earlier today listening to folks babble on about the World Cup that sports games would really help flesh out a world. Imagine if you drew up your own World Cup for a fictional world, you’d need all the countries to have names, and players to make a squad. When the World Cup […]

Deathshot

In the interest of exploring the history of the Planet Jendar I’ve been quickly building up some skirmish forces for their horse and musket era. I’ve also picked a three nation conflict of Reddina and the Su Khan Royalists versus The Rin Empire and the Su Khan Separatists, also known as the Su Khan Civil […]

Shooting Mechanics

Shooting is key to pretty much every wargame, and shooting often adds a huge amount of complication – ranges, rate of fire, armour penetration, line of sight. Not to mention in any turn based game which ever side gets the first turn is often able to cripple their opponents force before their opponent can return […]
