In the interest of being a tad more outlandish with my fantasy armies in 2mm I put together two forces of lesser known or maybe unknown fantasy archetypes and had a little game because you can paint a 2mm army as anything you want, so why stick to the norm?
My first outlandish army were the Shardmen of the Crystalliance, humanoids made of shards of precious stones animated by ancient magic. They are hard to damage but can only take a few good hits before they shatter. They are also able to focus light from the surrounding area to blind their opponents making it harder to hit them with ranged weapons, and enabling them to each fire a bolt of energy at any incoming foe. The front five units here are ‘Slashers’ the core of any Shardman force, two units at both ends of the second rank are ‘Impalers’, cavalry that can deliver a devastating and literally explosive charge. The three units in the middle of the second row are ‘Stingers’ lightly armed ranged troops, meant for harassing fire, and at the back are the ‘Controllers’, the officers of the army that project a protective shield over the entire force.
My second force were the Sasquatches, which I’m sure you get the gist of just by the name, although interestingly as I looked into Sasquatch lore, the belief is that they occupy an alternate dimension to our own, so for my fantasy world I decided to give them the ability to teleport across the board. The five units upfront (since the Sasquatches are going up the board) are the ‘Brownfurs’ these are the adult Sasquatches, they hit like a big furry train and are hard to bring down. The three units at the back are the ‘Yellowfurs’ these are adolescent Sasquatches, they hurl slingstones at their enemies but still pack a punch in melee. Finally the leader unit are the ‘Greyfurs’ the oldest of the clan, they provide wisdom and healing magic, and pack even harder of a punch than the Brownfurs.
Here was the battlefield, two forces at opposing ends of the valley, here I decided upon a simple objective, the first force to wipe out half of the opposing force would win the game!
The Shardmen took the first turn and advanced cautiously preparing for the Sasquatches to do their disappearing and reappearing act.

The Sasquatches did just that with half of their army turning to mist and reappearing on the ridge to the Sharmen’s right!

The Shardmen refused to be shaken from their course and advanced into the valley. Focused beams of light from the Slashers and Stingers tore into the Sasquatch ranks, but the hairy monstrosities held their ground and egged on the crystalline corps, pulling them forwards, hoping to force the Shardmen to fight on two fronts!

More of the Sasquatches faded out and reappeared on the ridge behind the Shardmen, the rest backed up against the cliff face to avoid being flanked.

The Shardmen charged but managed little in the way of dead yetis.

The Sasquatches struck back, but the other half of their force had teleported too far away from where the battle now was taking place, a few units managed to teleport again, appearing on the Shard flank.

The Shardmen readjusted their line, and the Slashers sent cascading arcs of energy into the newly appeared Sasquatch flanking force.

Then the brunt of the Sasquatch force charged home. The rest of the battle was a simple slog fest in the centre of the field to see which force would break first.

In the end the Shardmen were the first to break, they simply didn’t have the staying power of their furry enemies.

Here was the ‘dead pile’ on a nearby hill.

It was a fun game, and didn’t get bogged down too much in just waiting for someone to break, I think my current army lists have a good balance between the amount of damage units can do versus how much damage they can take.
Here’s another advantage of the 2mm scale, there’s three armies in this small box lid, about the size of a wallet, my Shardmen, Sasquatches and a Human Barbarian force, plus all the dice I need.
