Games Workshop’s Contrast Paints are pretty great!

I’m a few weeks behind on this one, biding my time. My Nighthaunt models previously featured on this blog did use ‘Iyanden Yellow’ but I painted over it quite a bit and didn’t allow it to fully do its thing.

I’ve had these figures for a while:

I wanted a modern or futuristic warband for my fantasy skirmish games acting as footsoldiers for an occult society that opened up a portal and came through from another dimension, possibly ours? I though their yellow biohazard suits would be a good place to test the contrast paints.

The paint is slapped on over a cheap white primer, I used Iyanden Yellow on the suit and Snakebite Leather on his belt, boots and pouches, then painted any metallics with Leadbelcher. As a final step I slapped Agrax Earthshade over the whole thing and I’m very satisfied with the result!

Admittedly here there is some reflection of the flash from my camera phone but you can clearly see around four shades of brown, orange, yellow and white. There even seems to be some edge highlighting along his collar. Excluding drying times I churned these guys out in a few minutes each, and I wasn’t working particularly hard.

I didn’t experience any of the paint rubbing off that people have spoken about, but I varnished it pretty quick.

I’d highly recommend this new paint range!
