Baba Nurgle

I wanted a new Daemon Prince for my Death Guard army after seeing how effective they can be in my last game of 40k (long time ago now). Despite having a drawer full of official Daemon Prince models I set out to essential scratch build one with my bits box and a small baby doll.

I started out by adding what I needed to model the actual thing I wanted in game, that’s a winged Prince with Maelific Talons. Fortunately for me I already had a spare talon from a proper Prince kit and I managed to find a pair of usable wings from some Crypt Flayers. I bulked out various parts with Milliput to hide the toy seams and to change the shape enough to make the figure seem mutated. A bunch of hands coming out of the belly just seems sensible at this point.

The little fella came with a bathrobe and I decided to add it back on to the figure, thinking once I’d infused it with enough super glue and pva it would be pretty rock solid and far better than certainly I or most people could sculpt using green stuff.

After adding another big claw and some nurgly bits I primed him grey. The initial prime is probably the best part of any build like this, it’s the moment your pile of crap starts looking like an actual thing. To help with the build before priming I take lots of pictures with my phone and put them into black and white.

After priming but before painting I did think to put Agrellan Earth on the face and I think it added a lot.

Here’s where I’m up to as far as painting goes. A little ways to go yet but there’s a few techniques I want to try on this guy that I’ve never tried before, mostly oil washes.

That’s all for now. Hopefully Baba Nurgle will be on the table soon creeping people out other than me. A friend said that I remind him of Sid from Toy Story can’t think why. By the way I’ve found a great concept for a Defiler:
