Death Patrol – A Simple Toy Soldier Game Battle Report

The end of the Camerian Civil War sparked a global war on the planet Jendar when House Baronor fearing a sudden attack from the Jendari Collective chose to strike first. With the ensuing dissolution of the SynJen alliance troops from both House Baronor and the Jendari Collective withdrew from the moon of Oltra back to Jendar to fight their own war. The A.L.L continued their attacks on the moon against Mortan’s Men and the Exiled Tribes but many areas formerly held by SynJen troops were once again up for grabs. Scouting units from Mortan’s Men pushed deeper and deeper into SynJen territory hoping to find whatever supplies they could to strike back against the A.L.L. But not all areas had yet been abandoned…

Tulco let his medium repeater hang low and huffed deeply. “I’m bored” he muttered, “Days we’ve been at this. Days! There’s nothing out here. The invaders took everything.”

“Not much further private” Sergeant Karak Tyre reassured. “We’ll be at the edge of former invader territory by dark. That will be our patrol over. Then all we do is camp out and wait for pick up.”

It was then the Sergeant saw a flash of yellow through the bushes ahead. “Enemies spotted” he barked as he checked his gear readying for combat.

Movement spotted ahead.

“Tulco, Aran you got left, I want covering fire coming from that crater. Dino and Skora on me we’re pushing right!”

Moving into position.

Fire began to pour in fast. Karak ran for the hedge line ahead kicking up what return fire he could. Dino and Skora followed closely behind the distinctive zip-crack of their rifles was comfortingly deadly.

Pushing on the right.

Fire erupted from the crater to the left. Karak cheered Tulco’s medium repeater as it tore into the enemy, but as he glanced over he noticed a deflated silver jumpsuit sagged on the edge of the depression. Tulco had already fallen to enemy fire, it had been Aran he was cheering on.

A slow advance.

Then the repeater stopped abruptly. “Jammed” thought Karak, “Damn it!” Then he noticed flashes of yellow in the scrub to the left, they were being flanked. “Dino, Skora we need to fall back now!”

Dino didn’t respond.

Karak popped up and caught an invader attempting to cross into the crater where Tulco and Aran lay. He let out a three shot burst and the enemy fell in a cloud of red mist.

Losing hope.

Karak let out a second burst and caught another attempting to cross. He then fumbled with his comms “Tulco, Haran, Dino respond.”

Skora traded shots with two invaders in a nearby crater.

“I said we need to leave now!” Karak spat.

“And what are your orders now?” Skora replied.

“Revenge.”

Then everything when white. Karak stumbled for a moment, a deep burning penetrating his chest. He saw Skora lying on the ground, a smouldering hole in his helmet. Then it all went dark.

The end.

So I lost. It’s always tough knowing which side to take in a story battle report as they inevitably end up dead, but maybe Karak and his men could be taken prisoner instead?

  1. Good to see the terrain like your shell holes all coming together in the terrain. And Pound Store figures to boot …
How did those recent “toys for a pound online” playset bag figures shape up?
