To counter the Selenoids on Jendar, House Baronor and the Jendari Collective put the Second Global War on hold and formed the Jendari Defence Army. The JDA had been formed prior to the Selenoid War, to counter the possible invasion of Jendar by the ALL or the newly formed Supremacy of Kannis (SoK). The JDA had a number of different uniforms as most nations simply used their current uniforms, only adding an additional blue armband to show they were JDA and not an enemy force still taking part in the Second Global War. However two uniforms did start to become more widespread than any other, one worn by troops mostly within House Baronor nations and the Armies original uniform:

The second worn largely by Collective nations, and developed during the Selenoid War:

The uniform consisted of a blue shirt common to Collective uniforms and with burgundy/purple trousers to match the uniform of the Rin Empire and red-orange stripes and helmet, similar to the orange stripes associated with drop troops:

Painting wise this was largely a slapchop affair, since I think it has the right balance of time spent and detail gained on the smaller figures I use for Deathzap.

I wanted a tank for support, even if I think it would be pretty vulnerable against Selenoids, so I grabbed one of these cheap army man tanks.

I chopped its wheels off, and covered a pretty bad gap on the front of the tank with a piece of coffee stirrer.

From there the tank got a grey spray prime and I painted it up in a standard Jendari blue scheme, I mixed Mod Podge into the paint for added strength. It was a basic paint job of basecoat, wash and a couple of dry brush highlights. I marked out a couple of details in orange to match my infantry.

Here’s a full JDA platoon with a MK2 Sentinel tank in support.
The advantage of the era I’m currently imagining gaming with Deathzap in is that there are only really three or four common army uniforms, potentially two for the JDA, one for the ALL and one for the SoK meaning I’ll only need to paint up a few platoons instead of the hundreds I must have painted up for the Oltra Campaign:

I love the repurposing of modern plastic ‘army men’. I do wonder about the wearing of bright colors in an environment of accurate long-range weapons but they do look good!
Me too lol. It’s part of trying to have them not just look like army men, I think my head canon is that sensory equipment is so advanced that wearing camo is largely irrelevant. You’re seen regardless of what you’re wearing.
I think the argument with uniforms is probably true, even now, how good is camo when faced with a decent sensor suite?
Another argument could be that the energy shields they march under are highly visible, so why bother trying to hide?
I love the colours you’ve chosen – even if not practical, there’s something heraldic/patriotic about it! I’m now very tempted to pick up an awesome set of quite detailed plastic army men from a local toy shop and maybe paint them up as my own JDA! Orange and Burgundy are my favourite colours, so I’d love to replicate this!
