I was informed by a comment on my YouTube channel last week that Irregular Miniatures had finally closed its doors (bar 2mm and 6mm which are now on a different website), after 45 years of service to the wargaming community.

I’ve been aware of Irregular and bought from them semi-regularly for roughly a decade now, so I’m definitely sad to see them go.
Their first appearance on this blog was from my ‘Bible Bashers’ (Biblical Mythological Skirmishing).

Back then I was also partaking of their 2mm Sci-fi and Fantasy, and 15mm and 28mm fantasy figures… basically everything:

Their figures always had a sort of strange appeal I’ve mentioned on here more than once. Many of their historical figures were straightforward and no nonsense, however their sci-fi and fantasy offerings were frequently quirky, and I quite enjoyed the game of spotting what historical figure or vehicle had been modified to fit a sci-fi or fantasy setting. Not to mention where things would jump around the various scales they offered, a 15mm mech may well be constructed from 6mm vehicle parts.
My most recent projects to feature their figures exclusively, were my game Skirmashed:
And my 15mm Sci-fi Project:
They will be greatly missed I’m sure, and I do hope someone else picks up the moulds and carries on producing their figures.
So hold whatever Irregular Minis you have remaining close, paint them up and press them into service on the tabletop. Those little gems of wargaming goodness will only become rarer as time moves on! I know I’ve certainly got a few I need to get painted and get fighting!
that is terrible news, although I only usually partake of 2mm and 6mm the staggering range is quite a loss.
cheers, John
Yes, an absolutely mad range of figures for many conflicts, some rather obscure, and all at very reasonable prices.
My interest is 20mm although I have painted their 40mm Vikings. The great thing about irregular was they stuck to their brand – irregular sculpts that of course meant they had character. The journey to bland yet very very precise resin 3d prints is a stark contrast. I know many will not like the roughness or miscasts or flash heavy figures but crucially for a table top gamer in me they had with some paint on the ability to project something distinct and pleasing on the eye. I will miss them.
The 2mm and (most?) of the 6mm have a new home at https://irregular2mm6mm.onlineweb.shop
The rules are listed but some (the Tusk rules) are buried in the figure section.
Kriegspiel (Kriegsspiel) blocks are there as well.
Ian served our hobby well over the years, producing a lot of nice stuff. I hope he has a long and happy retirement.
I too have many many figures that he produced 🙂
“And this too will pass”.
Sad times, but Ian has earned his retirement. Too many independent business owners die in harness.
Regards, Chris.
