Two more boxes for my Ghost Legions project arrived a few days ago, Mummies and Fire Demons from Dark Alliance.
Here’s a finished Fire Demon mounted on a 40mm base from Games Workshop. The Demon is a two piece miniature, with only the wings being separate from the main body, and with two poses in the set, with two different wing poses, and also with a little filling you could easily have a wingless Demon, I’d say you could potentially get 6 poses out of this box. My box was also the second released box of Demons, you can also get a box equipped with whips, I just preferred the look of the flaming sword. There was a decent amount of flash on the figure, but it wasn’t too much hassle to clean it off. The plastic is somewhat half way between Italeri and Airfix, and with the usual soapy water bath and coat of PVA prior to painting he came out great!
On to the Mummies:
With 12 poses in the box, and 48 figures in total this box for me is almost a must buy again. With enough variation in equipment, and characterful ‘leader’ figures included I could easily see someone building an army out of a few boxes of these Mummies, the only thing you’re missing is cavalry, but there’s no reason you couldn’t mount a few of your spare figures on a suitable chariot from another manufacturer.
My quick paint jobs don’t really do these figures justice, if you have the time or inclination you really could make these figures look very good.
